CANNES FILM FESTIVAL 2014: REDEMPTION

First things first. Happy Friday everybody!

Now that I am working gal I have come to appreciate Fridays and revel in the end of the week. On top of the oncoming elation that is the weekend, today is what many social media advocates have dubbed Fashion Friday (seeing as every day of the week has a name and allocated upload; I am pleased to say that 2 of my 3 favourite F-words are joined in this beautiful matrimony).

Earlier in the week I blogged about the horrific train wrecks seen at the Cannes Film Festival, and there have been many more of these disasters since that post, but today is Fashion Friday and a day for happiness and celebration so let us not dwell in the fashion [faux] past – genius – but instead let’s just sit back and enjoy the beauty that has graced the red carpet premieres and after parties of this extraordinary event.

Obvs I have my favourites and many of you may already know I am referring to the exquisite Blake Lively. This chick is KILLING IT at Cannes, as well as generally in life (Mrs Ryan Reynolds? I mean shame). She was also one of my/the best dressed at the Met Ball and is looking so beautiful I cannot deal. Mainly in Gucci of course, but she did have a subtle love affair with Chanel and Giambattista Valli in Cannes (it is such a romantic little place, isn’t it?) and looked AH-MAZEBALLS. Other than my homegurl Blake, Liya Kebede has looked like a million bucks every time she has been spotted; Freida Pinto is right on top there – seriously that coral Oscar De La Renta gown was absolute perfection – and newcomer Sonam Kapoor is having some incredible fashion moments (except for that one eensy weensy little mishap that eluded me with its impracticality). And of course, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is just everything. That woman can do no wrong. Same goes for Cate Blanchett. DUH. Especially when she teams up with Givenchy.

So here we go, my favourite fashionistas at Cannes. Sit back, relax and let this be the visual stimulation to an inspired weekend of magic. Besides, it’s just fashion, and fashion should make you feel like you’ve stepped into a dream.
